Common Roots CIC Team

Common Roots is a local community interest company who bring nature-based and creative activities to the Talbot Woodland space next to Slades Park.

Our aim is to provide people with opportunities to connect with nature, connect with each other and to spend good time outside.

Karin Meineke

I am an Eco-Psychology and Nature Based Practitioner (Level 4) as well as an accredited NatureWell practitioner. My passion is to support people to deeply connect with the natural world, to remember our natural affiliation to nature (biophilia) and to experience the benefit of having a healthy relationship with themselves, friends, our community and especially our Mother Earth.

II like camping/wild camping, walking, sailing, sea swimming, wild swimming, gardening, foraging, reading, dancing and always like to explore new things.

Lucy Russell

I’ve lived in the Talbot Village since July 2020 and in and around Bournemouth most of my life. I’m passionate about the local area and community.

With a background in social care and as a member of Poole Printmakers, I’m passionate about creating opportunities for people to explore craft and creativity, especially in the outdoors. I also love photography, writing, the local history of the area and I care about our environment and how we connect to it. I’m learning to garden for biodiversity and working with the seasons. This I do with varying degrees of success!

Grace Carroll

Hi, I’m Grace — a local artist and designer with a deep love for the outdoors and a passion for helping people, especially children, connect with the natural world.

I grew up on a farm, where nature was part of everyday life, and I believe that this early connection is something every child deserves. Nature and creativity were always intertwined for me, and now, through Common Roots CIC, I share that joy by blending creativity and wild spaces to inspire young imaginations. I love creating playful, hands-on experiences that help children feel at home in nature— so they don’t have to relearn that connection later in life.

Building community is at the heart of everything I do— whether it’s gathering around a fire, crafting with natural materials, or simply noticing the magic all around us.
